Report File
avast! can create and save a report file containing information about a past session. Basically, it contains the same information as in session results.
Create report file
Checking this option turns on the report file creation.
Overwrite existing report file
Every created report file will overwrite the previous one (if not checked, the new report will be appended).
Save report to custom file
Enter the directory where the report file will be stored. You should make sure that you have the rights to write files to the specified directory.
Additionally, you can specify what kind of information will be written to the report.
Task start - date and time of the scan start.
Task stop - date and time of the scan stop.
Hard errors - If a serious, unexpected error occurs during the scanning of the file (e.g. the diskette containing the file to be checked is unreadable), it will be written to the report.
Soft errors - The files that were impossible to check will be written to the report. It is usually because of sharing violation (some system files) or because the access to the files was denied (e.g. the current user does not have access to the directory they reside in).
Skipped files - The skipped files (e.g. because of their size) will be written to the report. (If a file is too small to contain any virus code, it will be skipped.)
Infected files - Information about the infected files will be written to the report.
OK files - Any files correctly tested (and found uninfected) will be written to the report. Use this option with case - if you scan a large number of files, the resulting report file might get quite large as well.
