Get ready
Insert the disc and start the software
- Insert your CD or DVD using these essential guidelines:
- Insert the disc label-side down (coated-side down) into the
LightScribe drive or writer.
- You can burn the label onto the disc either before or after you put the disc content (for example, movies, music, or photos) onto the disc.
- Launch LightScribe Simple Labeler.
- The first time the software launches, the "Splash screen" displays.
You can choose to click "Don't show me this again."
- To proceed to the "Design screen", click Next. The label design screen appears.
- If you chose "Don't show me this again", in the future the design screen will be the first thing to display when you launch the software.
Make sure you have everything you need
To use LightScribe Simple Labeler, you must have all of the following.
More information about all of these items is available at www.lightscribe.com.
- Hardware. You need either a LightScribe-enabled DVD drive in your computer or a LightScribe-enabled DVD writer connected to your computer.
- How can you tell if your drive or writer includes LightScribe technology? LightScribe-enabled drives or writers typically have the LightScribe logo or the word "LightScribe" displayed on the drive tray or computer itself.
- The LightScribe logo looks like this:
- Special CDs or DVDs. LightScribe works when the hardware interacts with the special coating that can only be found on LightScribe discs.
- Specially coated LightScribe discs are available at major retail stores or online.
- LightScribe discs are identified by the LightScribe logo on
the media package.
- Labeling software. If you are reading this, you have LightScribe-supported disc-labeling software -- LightScribe Simple Labeler.
- LightScribe Simple Labeler software helps you make fast,
simple labels that can include text and/or a border image.
- To make more complex labels, consider the labeling software options listed at www.lightscribe.com/go/products.
- LSS software. LightScribe System Software (LSS) is the foundation underneath LightScribe Simple Labeler. Again, if you are reading this, you have LSS.
But what is LightScribe?
LightScribe is a disc-labeling technology that lets you laser-etch a label directly on your disc. Creating professional-looking discs is easy: burn your disc, flip the disc over, and then burn your label onto the disc. The same drive that burns your data, burns your label.
A LightScribe-enabled DVD drive uses a laser to burn an image into the coating on the label side of a LightScribe disc. The LightScribe labeling system has no ink to smear, no paper to curl, and no sticky adhesive to cause problems.
Refer to www.lightscribe.com for more information on LightScribe.
Now you are ready to design your label.
