If you experience difficulties, check the Troubleshooting section or www.lightscribe.com/go/support.
Design your label
Use the Design screen to choose the text, font, and border you want for your label.
Text and font
- In the Top Text field, enter the text you want to appear
at the top of the label.
- In the Bottom Text field, enter the text you want to appear
at the bottom of the label.

- In the Font field, select the font. The font you specify will be used for both the top and
bottom text.
- LightScribe Simple Labeler gives you access to all of the fonts you have installed on your system.
- When you specify a font, that font is used for both the top and bottom text.
- LightScribe Simple Labeler chooses the font size for you; it chooses the largest font that will fit the space available and still deliver a label quickly. You can see that size in the preview screen. You can also create the effect of a larger or smaller typeface by choosing a different font.
Border and color
- In the Border section, select a border to use, if desired. Several borders are pre-installed. You can use any one of these borders, or no border.
- LightScribe labels are monochrome (grayscale) only; that is, the labels designs can be black and shades of gray. Different effects can be achieved by using different colored media, where available.
Combining text, font, and border
LightScribe Simple Labeler is designed to create fast, simple labels, but the range of font and border options available lets you create a surprising array of fun, interesting, effective labels. Here are some ideas:
- Use symbol typefaces to create the effect of a border. For example, you can make a ring of stars, or a pattern of arrows.
- Combine different fonts with different borders. You might put a classic-looking font with a music border for an opera CD, or a light-hearted font with a playful border for a collection of pictures of children.
- Use lighter and heavier typefaces to evoke different impressions. For example, a heavier, "medieval font" would create one mood, and a stylized, "poster" font would create another.

Drives and copies
- If you have more than one LightScribe drive or writer, specify the one to
use.
- If you are making more than one label, specify the number of labels you
need, and later, as each label completes, insert a new disc -- label-side down -- for each label to be "printed."
Previewing your design
- To see what your label will look like, without burning the label, click Next to go to the preview screen.
- You can use the preview and design screens to refine your label design.
